The fishing boats consist of, four 19’/50hp Kvaerno boats, one 22’/80hp Kvaerno boat, three new 23’/115hp Dolmoy cabin boats, and also, two rowboats, for use in the lake.
The fishing here is “WORLD CLASS !!!!
That’s the phrase used
to describe the fish that are caught here on a regular basis
Come and see for yourself, and, Smash your previous personal best catches.
Huge Cod, Coalfish and Halibut, are caught here most days, all through the season between April – October.
You can fish just outside of the apartments, or around the islands of Silda and the magnificent grounds around the Famous Loppa island. March, April, and May, is a great time for the Huge Skrei, which are the Barents Sea Cod that cover the grounds between Silda and Loppa during the winter months. The 40m to 60m areas between the two islands, and also on the West side of Loppa, give incredible sport on Pirks & big shads. It is best to fish a single lure on these grounds at this time of year, partly because pirks work with the correct action on their own, and partly because of the size of the fish you can catch here !!!!!!
In the summer months, the amount of big double figure Coalies can be quite exceptional, fishing with light gear, i.e. spinning rod & fixed spool reel, loaded with light braid, with an Eddystone eel, or sidewinder eel lure attached is phenominal sport. The Coalies can hit the lures just a few feet under the boat, or as deep as 40 or 50m, with incredible force, stripping the line off the reel at an alarming speed.
Hundreds of Halibut are caught in Loppa every year, Din Tur customer Shane Smith, from Tiverton, Devon, smashed the record for the area, while on a trip with Din Tur's Ian Peacock, in August 2012, with a Monster of over 200lbs. Shane caught the massive fish on a 750g stainless steel Norwegian Pirk that he bought in Loppa !!!!
