FISHING

The fishing is fantastic; you can fish inside of the fjord, from boat and shore, with fish over 30lb just a few minutes from the dock not uncommon.

There are huge options for all kinds of conditions, you can go out to Stjernoya & Seiland on the many plateaus & reefs, for the big Cod & Halibut, or fish mid-water in the deeper areas, for the huge coalfish and cod. Other species you are likely to catch are; Ling, Haddock, Wolf fish, redfish, Tusk, and some specimen size Plaice.

Fishing with lures is great sport, pirking for huge cod with pirks of various, colours, shapes and sizes is very productive. The weight of pirk you need will vary depending on, wind & tide. When the wind is calm and the drift is slow you can use small pirks between 50g to 150g on light tackle, when the drift is faster and the wind is a bit stronger, you will need pirks in the 200g to 500g range. In extreme depths with a strong tide pirks up to 750g or even heavier can be used, but it is a much more strenuous and less sporty method of fishing !!!!!!!!

Take a look at the pictures of some of the 2012 catches from Nyvoll!!!
